Our Commitment

Hostelling International USA (HI USA) values responsibility and integrity. Our Policy on Reporting Financial Improprieties or Other Misconduct contains guidelines for reporting questionable conduct involving financial improprieties, misuse of the organization’s assets, or other fraudulent, dishonest, or illegal conduct detrimental to the interests of HI USA. We seek to consistently conduct our business and our mission with the highest standards of ethics.

HI USA is committed to an environment where open, honest communications are the expectation, not the exception. We want all staff to feel comfortable in reporting financial improprieties and other misconduct as outlined in the policy.

While the policy contains the names of HI USA staff and one HI USA board member to whom you can make reports, HI USA has also contracted with a third party service, EthicsPoint, so that staff may make confidential and/or anonymous reports about financial improprieties or other misconduct through a 24/7 toll free number or website. You are encouraged to submit reports relating to violations covered in our Policy on Reporting Financial Improprieties or Other Misconduct, as well as asking for guidance related to the policy. You may call the EthicsPoint Call Center for HI USA (844-599-8787) or make a report through the website.

The information you provide will be forwarded to HI USA by EthicsPoint on a totally confidential and anonymous basis if you should choose. You have our guarantee that your comments will be heard and that there will be follow through to investigate what is reported.

Making a Report

The HI USA Policy on Reporting Financial Improprieties or Other Misconduct provides examples of misconduct. The definitions of each of those examples are provided within the Make a Report portion of this site to help you in defining or thinking about the type of issue you would like to report. As the Policy states, misconduct may not be limited to these examples. If there are other instances of financial improprieties or fraudulent, dishonest, or illegal conduct that may not be contained within this list but that you have observed, please describe it in your report.

See the EthicsPoint FAQs for more information.
